Sky Watch Friday - Lan Island, Chonburi Province, Thailand

My friends and I went to Lan Island in Chonburi Province, Thailand. I took several photos from this island. So, I would like to share you my sky watch photos. Moreover, please also visit http://skyley.blogspot.com/ to see other sky watchers around the world.

Cheers,

Amazing photos. I'm also amazed that I lived in Chonburi for a few years (in the 80's) and had never been there. Are these the islands off Patthya where everyone goes diving?

Your other photos are great too. I'm really thinking of getting a DSLR and even went to my favorite photo story just to ask about the price of a Canon 450D. Decided to wait to see what the price of the 500D will be so I can spare my wallet for a while longer.

Floreta,

I did not do HDR. I used Graduated ND filter to hold back the exposure of the sky so I would get the balanced exposure between foreground and background.

Thanks for your visit.

Chanpheng,

You are right. This island is pretty close to Pattaya. We took 40 mins by a normal boat from shore to the island.

If I were you, I would like to wait for Canon EOS 500D because its function is pretty much Canon EOS 50D and you can record high dep videos as well. The price should be around nearly 30000 Bath Thai.

Beautiful shots. Can I ask what shutter speed you used? It looks like you got the misty water effect from a long exposure, but I can never be sure.

Wow! lovely sky photos :) very serene. I wish I could take beautiful pictures as you do.

Bryan,

I put my camera on tripod and I also used shutter B to obtain shutter speed of 15 - 60 seconds to get misty water as you see my photos.

That silky water, look like clouds and mountains.
Great technique.

Beautiful! Great technique, too, to bring out the full range of colours.

Though I have to admit, you have a slight advantage with such... awesome conditions. Is that early-morning mist rolling across an ocean...?

I should go to Thailand :)
